The stone blocks were ancient. They looked ancient, they felt ancient, they even smelled ancient. Our tour guide led us further along the underground tunnel, explaining as we went that these stone blocks formed the Western Wall of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. The temple was destroyed long ago, and the ruins have been restored and expanded many times over the years.
